MR. MYLES L. BERMAN® – asa* Myles Burmen: The stages of a DUI case generally start with arrest. Once a person is arrested and released from custody, they’re given a Notice to Appear and a temporary license. With a Notice to Appear that indicates the first court date, which is called an arraignment. At the arraignment, generally, our clients do not go to court. We go to court for them. We get the police report and we talk to the prosecutor. We then review the case with the client. Sometimes, DUI cases in court can take anywhere between two months and a year or longer to get resolved. *means “also spelled as”
