Southern California DUI Checkpoints™
More and more often, police agencies throughout Southern California are using random DUI checkpoints to stop and arrest drivers who are suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs. Many drivers do not know that California law has rules for how these checkpoints must be set up and conducted, and that many times the police don’t always follow all of the rules. In such cases, the traffic stop may be found to be illegal, and the arrest on charges of DUI may be thrown out of court.

Every car is pulled over going East - A worker pokes their head into your vehicle to smell and then asks how you feel about being pulled over. They then explain that they are doing a survey to see who is driving now and that it is voluntary. If you ask to leave they ask for an anonymous breath sample and offer $65. If you decline they will offer $100, if you decline again they will let you go. I was told it was part of a survey that is done every 10 years. |

Pulled off the freeway to get gas, when I took garfield down a lot of cars were backed up trying to get on the 60 E., before the enterence there were Cops using whistles to direct traffic, patrol cars making sure no one was escaping, tons of tow trucks lined up. Illuminated warning signs of this checkpoint were placed several blocks in advance on Aviation for southbound traffic, giving drivers from that direction plenty of opportunity to skirt around it.
